It safe to say that financial spread betting revolutionized the concept of spread betting. Now you can bet on various markets which are no related to sports betting at all.

One might say that spread betting is divided into 2:

Betting with the spread and betting against the spread. While betting against the spread is considered doing the opposite from the trend of the market, betting with the spread is going with the flow.

Other than that betting with the spread is almost the same as betting against it. The stock exchange market can either go up or down, it can’t go both (well, not during the same bet), this is why feeling the trends and knowing what you are doing is very important. Guts feeling is not enough in this case.
